Per-section pricing. No per-student fees.
Brainpathio is licensed by the number of class sections — not by student count or seat. The pilot year is free. After that, the subscription is per section per year. We believe K-12 departments shouldn't have to guess at costs.

Common questions about pricing and licensing.
A section is one class period with one teacher and one group of students. If you have three periods of 8th-grade physical science, each with a different teacher, that's three sections. Sections with the same teacher are counted individually because each section generates its own misconception data stream.
Yes. The pilot year requires no payment. You get full platform access for one complete academic year — up to 6 sections — at no cost. At the end of the year, we do a structured review session and you decide whether to continue with a paid license. There's no auto-renewal and no penalty for not continuing. The pilot exists because we want departments to see real misconception data from their own students before making any financial commitment.
The platform is designed to work best at the department level — the cross-section aggregation view is where the most actionable data lives. That said, individual teacher pilots are possible and common. Many deployments start with one motivated teacher whose pilot data then makes the case for department-level adoption. We can support a single-section pilot and scale from there. Contact us to discuss your situation.
All tiers include onboarding. The Pilot and Department tiers include a kick-off session, taxonomy setup, and monthly check-in calls. The District tier includes a dedicated implementation specialist who works with department heads, curriculum coordinators, and IT to configure the platform for your specific curriculum sequence and assessment calendar. We don't provision accounts and disappear — the support is built into every tier.
Brainpathio operates as a school official under FERPA. Student data is used only to generate the reports and adaptive paths delivered back to the teacher. We do not sell, share, or aggregate student-level data across schools. Student PII is stored encrypted and can be deleted on request. For district-level agreements we provide a signed Data Processing Agreement covering FERPA and applicable state student privacy laws (including Oregon ORS 329A).
Brainpathio currently covers K-8 STEM: mathematics (grades 3–8), physical science (grades 5–8), life science (grades 5–8), and earth and space science (grades 5–8). The misconception taxonomy is validated against NGSS and Common Core Math standards. We are not optimized for high school calculus or AP-level courses — our taxonomy is built around foundational K-8 concept formation, where persistent misconceptions do the most long-term damage. Contact us if you'd like to discuss a specific curriculum sequence or grade band.
We currently sell annual licenses. We don't require multi-year commitments. For departments that want to lock in pricing, we can discuss a two-year agreement at the current rate — contact us to explore that option. District agreements are structured per academic year with renewal discussions in the spring.
Your department receives a full export of all student learning-path data, misconception cluster histories, and weekly report summaries in a portable format (CSV and PDF). If you choose not to renew, your data is exported and deleted from our systems within 30 days per our data retention policy. There is no data lock-in — the misconception data your department generated belongs to your department, not to us.
Start with the pilot year. No commitment required.
One academic year, up to 6 sections, your own misconception data. We walk you through setup, check in monthly, and give you a full data export at year end. Decide at the end whether to continue.
